Retreatbilisi and Dea Kolbaia invite you to a three-hour gathering exploring anthropology, consciousness studies, cultural history, and the relationship between the human mind, body, and well-being.
The evening will begin with the Retreatbilisi team, who will create a space for stepping out of the rhythm of daily life, gathering attention, and preparing for the experience ahead. This will be followed by a short Sound Healing session designed to support concentration, presence, and deeper reception of information.
The main part of the evening will feature Dea Kolbaia’s lecture-performance:
“The Acid Queen from Eleusis”
Mushrooms and other consciousness-altering substances are often described as “forbidden” or “cursed.” Yet from the perspectives of history, anthropology, and consciousness studies, their role in human cultural development is far more complex and fascinating.
This gathering will explore the unique role of mushrooms in human history, experiences of altered states of consciousness, the formation of religious and cultural narratives, the relationship between the human brain and perception, as well as influential ideas and theories that have shaped the fields of anthropology and consciousness research.
From the Eleusinian Mysteries and the symbolism of ancient civilizations to modern biology and contemporary brain research, this event offers an opportunity to examine the history of human consciousness through a fresh and thought-provoking lens, and to consider the factors that may have contributed to its development.
